This week I choose to work on a picture of Arthur and his coach from Special Olympics Swimming, it was so dark that you could barely make out the people. So as I was reading the article from Twisted Tree I had this photo open and made adjustments to the color and lighting as I was reading.
Here is the the original:
Here is the corrected photo, I lightened it and took out some of the blue/green that showed up when it was lightened.
The second photo I worked on was a scanned picture of my great gramma from the 1930's. I really liked this picture but the original was pretty scratched up and there were a lot of dust from the scanner. So again I worked on this while reading the Twisted Tree article, and used the clone stamp to fix the scratches and then played around with adjusting the sharpness.
Here is the original:
And here is the corrected photo, it's one of my favorites of Gramma Lois, she was kind of a grumpy old lady when I knew her and as I got older and started scanning the photos I realized that she stopped smiling after my Great Grandfather passed away as a young man, and she was then thrust into an arranged marriage with his cousin because they both had young children and Great Great Gramma Suzie saw it as a way to save the family farms and give the kids 2 parents.
Jenn, these are amazing! I really love the first one, they way you lightened up the photo, makes it so you can actually see the detail! Nicely done!
ReplyDeleteYour picture of your great grandmother came out so nice as well!
I think you did an amazing job on the first one. The lightening was really dark in the original and so clear in the edited. Also it was distanced and all the water drew away from the main point of view so cropping it to be centered and closer was a great touch!
ReplyDeleteAwesome job Jenn. Great work with the first photograph and the lightening...worked nicely to bring the dark image to life. Got to love this PS software and all that it can do. How special those images you have of your family. I have some old photos of past family events (some black and white and some color) that I would like to scan and fix for each of my siblings. Amazing that you can take mulitiple photos and scan them at the same time (with a white sheet of paper over them (images face down) and then the PS software has an option to divide scanned images...pretty cool. Thanks for sharing! Nice work!
ReplyDeleteJenn- That's an awesome idea to start fixing old photos. What a sad story about your great grandmother- crazy how things have changed! You definitely made the first picture a lot better. nice work!
ReplyDeleteI loved how the one of Arthur and Donna came out, I was disappointed that the corrections on Gramma's picture didn't show up as well, if you click on the pictures it brings up full size renditions and it shows greater detail in how many scratches and dust I fixed.
